Why is it important to protect your car body?
Original factory car paint is impossible to replicate aftermarket. Large-scale machinery and equipment are required, including an industrial-grade baking room to cure the car paint 3 times, throughout the paint coating process at almost 200 degrees.

After the 4C3B (4-Coat-3-Bake) process, the factory car paint does not only bond better with the car body. It is also much harder, more durable, and more corrosion resistant compared to aftermarket resprays, thanks to the 4-layered paint coating structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is paint protection film ?

Paint protection films are made from a tough, optically clear, flexible, self-healing, polyurethane film. It is the latest auto industry breakthrough with technology improvements, including superior scratch and stain resistance, outstanding clarity, exceptional elasticity, and self-healing properties to absorb and recover minor scratches and chips.

It can be applied to any painted area requiring protection from stone chips, light scratches, minor parking bumps, UV exposure, corrosion, and paint oxidation. It is the toughest first line of defense for your car body and car paint.

What makes SPARKLE's Paint Protection (PPF) application services better than other competitors ?

Insisting on only doing manual tailor-made PPF fittings is what separates SPARKLE apart from our competitors. In order for the Paint Protection Film (PPF) to be 'Invisible', or barely noticeable after its installation, is a work of art.

Actual observation, inspection and measurement are essential for every car for the most accurate pre-assessment. The Paint Protection Film (PPF) application process also requires absolute precision and experience from the Auto Detailer, in order to create a PPF film cut-out that perfectly fits the car body's silhouette. Not to mention the level of technique and patience needed to properly install the Paint Protection Film (PPF), including wrapping every visible corner of the car body, as well as hiding all excess trims of the PPF in-between seams, thus to achieve a flawless PPF installation without errors or work defects.

Computer (Machine) VS. Manual Cutting: Why do we insist on manually tailored PPF wrapping ?

Computer-aided cutting or machine cutting, as known as Pre-Cut PPF, refers to pre-made films based on the general car body measurement data provided by the car manufacturers.

Although installing pre-cut PPF directly on the vehicle body streamlines the process, reduces costs and saves time (pretty much like sticking stickers onto your car body without any wrapping involved), pre-cut films would not allow us to achieve a perfect wrap that can protect all details and delicate angles. The pre-cut PPF films, without having a custom wrapped fit, might wear stick out near the edges, which can easily trap dust, dirt and other contaminants resulting in visible ‘black seams’ around the car body in the long run.

The aesthetics of a car is just as important as its protection. We believe it is all worth the time and effort to go through the manual Paint Protection Film (PPF) tailor-made process to achieve a flawlessly protected car that is great looking and easy to maintain at the same time.

Will Paint Protection Film (PPF) turn yellow over time? Why is the choice of PPF materials important ?

It is natural for the Paint Protection Film (PPF) to turn yellow over time. The advantages of superior PPF materials lie in their resistance and durability that keep them from turning yellow over time. Since UV radiation from sunlight is the main cause of PPF yellowing, it is important for car owners to evaluate their daily routine and parking environment prior to committing to PPF application. Ideally, we recommend having an indoor parking space for a PPF wrapped car to avoid excessive UV exposure.

In terms of PPF material choices, we use the highest quality Aliphatic TPU PPF material that comes with a special anti-ultraviolet coating that protects the PPF from turning yellow easily. Our "EXECUTIVE" or "ADVENTURER" PPF services come with a 5-year and lifetime anti-yellowing guarantee respectively from GSWF. Furthermore, an extra layer of specialist PPF coating with anti-UV property is included in the above services, which also further enhances the PPF’s self-cleaning ability.

What car colours are most suitable for Paint Protection Film (PPF) application ?

First of all, it is important to note that Paint Protection Film (PPF) brings the same level of protection to vehicles with different colours.

Generally, we would say darker colours, such as black, deep blue, dark green, grey, etc, are more suitable because they are easier to maintain, while lighter colours, such as white or beige, tend to get dirty easier since the impurities will be more obvious under sunlight.

For clients choosing our EXECUTIVE and ADVENTURER PPF services, they come with a PPF anti-yellowing guarantee.

Why is parking environment a factor to consider prior to applying Paint Protection Film (PPF) ?

Oxidisation, or yellowing of Paint Protection Film, is caused by prolonged exposure under sunlight and heat, which causes the film to turn yellowish.

Therefore, car owners who installed PPF should always opt for indoor parking to better maintain their PPF. They are also advised not to expose their car to direct sunlight for more than 6 hours per day.

For clients choosing our EXECUTIVE and ADVENTURER PPF services, they come with a PPF anti-yellowing guarantee.

How should I maintain my Paint Protection Film wrapped vehicle ?

We recommend that car owners who wrapped their cars with PPF park indoors to avoid exposing their vehicles to excessive UV.

Additionally, we recommend that car owners wash their vehicles regularly at least once per week. Washing your car every time after raining can also prevent the formation of acid rain stains and watermarks. In the unfortunate event of bird droppings or tree saps on the car body, apply clean water and wipe it with paper towels immediately to protect PPF from biological corrosion.

Why do I need to wash and maintain my car regularly after installing Paint Protection Film (PPF) ?

While PPF can withstand high-impact physical damages such as rock chips and scratches, its plastic material nature tends to attract dust over time due to surface tension.

Although applying PPF specialist coating will enhance the PPF’s self-cleaning property, regular car cleaning with plenty of water is recommended to maintain the PPF’s transparency and clarity. Cars with white or light-coloured paint should pay extra attention since impurities and imperfection will be more obvious.

Is it difficult to remove Paint Protection Film (PPF) ? Will the process damage my car body and car paint ?

NO, not at all. We ensure our Paint Protection Film (PPF) is very easy to remove, without creating any damages to the car body. Our choice for using the latest ALIPHATIC TPU PPF material is supported by its excellent anti-oxidation attribute, which is easy to remove even after being applied for a long time. As long as the car paint is original, it will not be damaged or teared-off during the Paint Protection Film removal process.

However, there are places that are still using older PVC PPF materials, which hardens over time and tends to develop cracks after prolonged exposure, making it very difficult to remove. It is common in Hong Kong for shops to use cheap and inferior PPF materials to cut costs, which could easily result in permanent glue stains and other damages to the car paint.

Can Paint Protection Film (PPF) be applied on resprayed cars ?

We suggest applying Paint Protection Film (PPF) to resprayed car ONLY IF the over-spray was done professionally and properly, which is rare in Hong Kong.

If the base paint layer was not applied properly during the respray process, there will be a high risk of paint peel-off when removing the PPF in the future, resulting in permanent paint damages on the car body.

What is covered under the PPF specialist coating warranty ?

A 12-month warranty for the specialist PPF coating is included for our EXECUTIVE and ADVENTURER package.

Customers can schedule to have their Paint Protection Film and coating inspected within the warranty period, during which all coating repair work will be done when ever deemed relevant and necessary.
