Enhance Your Car Paint

ULTIMATE GLOSS, RADIANCE AND CLARITY

Car coating greatly enhances the car paintwork’s radiance, glossiness and depth. Complimenting our auto detailer's paint correction process, it gives the car body a smooth and sparkling 'Candy Gloss' finish.

A professionally installed car coating enables long-lasting protective and hydrophobic surfaces on the car body, strengthening a vehicle’s ability to repel water, dust and stains, while offering paint protection against non-physical damages, such as UV exposure, heat, acid rain and other road contaminants.
Original Car Paint Only Live Once
Why is it important to protect your car body?
Original factory car paint is impossible to replicate aftermarket. Large-scale machinery and equipments are required, including an industrial-grade baking rooms to cure the car paint 3 times, throughout the paint coating process at almost 200 degrees.

After the 4C3B (4-Coat-3-Bake) process, the factory car paint does not only bond better with the car body. It is also much harder, more durable, and more corrosion resistant compared to aftermarket resprays, thanks to the 4-layered paint coating structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is car coating?

A car coating is a layer of chemical polymer molecules with a Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) core that bonds semi-permanently on the car paint. It is an alternative to waxing.

Due to its chemically intrinsic properties, it does not break down in normal atmospheric conditions like rain or summer. Technically, the coating is layered on top of the clearcoat, a thick transparent gloss layer that protects the car paint from damages. The main idea to apply car coating is to prevent dirt, grime, and stain marks from appearing on the paint job, thus ruining the clear coat.

What is the difference between ceramic, quartz and glass coating?

There is no variance between ceramic, quartz and glass coating, besides serving as different marketing buzz words. They are all referring to the same core chemical compound of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2), which can be found on natural materials like ceramic and quartz. Thus for simplicity, we refer to them generally as ‘car coating’ to avoid any confusion.

Why do I need a car coating?

Our car coating includes a base protective layer and a top water repellent layer. It offers extra paint protection with self-cleaning properties, which protects the car paint by repelling dust, dirt, and stains.

An effective car coating can delay a vehicle’s ageing process, including UV and acid rain damages, colour fading due to paint oxidation, bonding of permanent impurities and formation of swirl marks and hair scratches resulted from routine car wash.

Ultimately, car coating can minimise the time and effort needed to maintain your car, while enhancing its overall appearance and details, giving the car paint more radiance, clarity, depth and gloss.

What is water repellency and water repellent coating?

Water repellency is the degree of ability to rebuff and shred off water on a surface. The car coating’s water repellent layer repels water in the form of rain, mud, snow, sleet, or ice, and disperse it into tiny droplets that quickly slide off the car paint. The strong hydrophobic surfaces of a coated car can prevent bonding of permanent pollutants to the car paint, including stubborn mud stains, water streaks, acid rain etches and many other chemical and biological contaminants.

My car does not repel water as much overtime. What should I do?

A decrease in car’s water repellency doesn’t mean the quartz coating has diminished. It could simply be the case where the top-layer water repellent coating has worn out overtime, which is completely normal. If your coated vehicle is still under warranty, request a quick check up during any normal car wash appointments and we will re-apply your base coating and water repellent coating, whenever appropriate and necessary.

Can car coating protect all physical abrasions, including rock chips, key scratches and sand abrasion?

The short answer is, NO. A car coating’s main purpose is to enhance the car’s paintwork, protect it from oxidation and to prevent the formation of permanent stains and marks. If you are looking for the most comprehensive protection from physical damages like rock chips and sand abrasion, you should consider our Paint Protection Film (PPF) services.

When is the best time to apply car coating to my car?

The best time is now, especially if your car is new. Coat it while its paint condition is still pristine. Even if you are driving a second hand vehicle, it is always better to protect your car earlier so that its best possible condition can be captured and preserved. Leaving your car uncoated means no protection to car paint during routine usage and car washes, increasing the chance for permanent physical and chemical damages. Car coating bonds stronger to smooth and levelled car paint surfaces with less impurities and imperfections, which is also the reason we dedicate the most time and effort towards paint correction.

My car is not brand new. Does it still worth to install car coating?

It is never too late to install your car coating. Even if the car paint is imperfect with scratches and marks, most of them can be removed or minimised through paint correction, as long as the damages have not gone beyond the car paint. Arguably, you are getting better value for money since more scratches and marks are removed during the process for the same price. However, we must stress that it is totally unwise to accumulate ‘enough’ damages before detailing your vehicle. Installing a car coating earlier prevents the bonding on permanent impurities and other irreversible damages to the car paint.

What kind of damages can paint correction restore?

Paint correction is the process to remove stubborn marks and impurities of the car paint. These include: water marks, swirl marks, hair scratches, surface stains, acid rain spots, bird dropping etching, faded paint due to oxidation and buffer holograms done by mishandling.

More sever physical damages, like rock chips, deep scratches, dents and any other damages that goes beyond the car paint layer into the bare metal are permeant, which can only be restored by car paint respray.

Why is installing a car coating better than waxing?

A car coating shows clear benefits over regular waxing, including durability, appearance performance and long term costs. Waxing, while it might look as good as a car coating initially, is not recommended in the long run.

Firstly, since wax does not bond onto the car paint surface, it can easily be washed away after a few washes. Since waxing can only last for weeks, you will need to do it 4-6 times per year. Secondly, grinding and polishing is needed every-time prior to waxing on unprotected paint, which machine buffing every time thins out the clearcoat, the top clear transparent gloss that protects the car paint . The clearcoat will eventually be worn out and damages will occur on the car paint directly.

Moreover, waxing does not provide protection and enhancement, unlike car coating. In all, waxing is simply unsustainable and uneconomical.

What does SPARKLE’s vehicle coating warranty cover?

We offer car coating warranty to our customers that covering half of its stated effective duration, depending on specific coating and detailing packages.

During the warranty period, the customer can request a quick check up during any normal car wash appointments. We will re-apply coating on exterior car parts, whenever appropriate and necessary based on our inspection and evaluation.

How long can my car coating last?

We offer three car coating packages that lasts for 12, 18 and 36 months respectively.

A car coating’s effective duration depends on the user’s habits, maintenance effort and environmental factors, i.e. parking location, weather, humidity, car wash methods and frequency, usage of other car products, etc.

Our multi-layered coating is made of up the base-layer coating and water repellent coating. Since the latter sits at the top layer, its wear and tear will be relatively faster compared to the base coating.

How should I maintain my car coating for it to last longer?

Washing your car properly and regularly is the key to maintain your car coating over time. Most importantly, stay away from any automated car wash services and pressure rotating wash brush. You should also avoid exposing your car under direct sunlight or heat for prolonged period of time.

As a general rule of thumb, we strongly advise to wash your car regularly once a week (or at the very least, once every two weeks). More frequent car wash is needed during rainy or humid seasons because pollutants like dust, mud, dirt and other particles bond easier to the car paint under such weather conditions.

Never wipe your car when dry to avoid scratches caused by any particles trapped between the towel and the car paint surface. Always try to ensure there is plenty of water supply to rinse away loose particles thoroughly prior to soaping and rubbing.

Lastly, using mild or PH balanced car wash detergents will definitely increase longevity of your car coating. Also, use only high quality microfibre towels or wash mitts. Never wash your car under direct sunlight and/or under hot and dry weather condition to avoid formation of watermarks, due to quick dry-out of water streaks and droplets.
